How Teach to One: Math Factors into Student Success

Math is a core subject and building block students need to succeed in their future endeavors. Given the diverse needs within a classroom, the teacher’s challenge is to fulfill those needs yet propel their students to success. Teach to One: Math is a mathematical program designed to help teachers teach their students and the students to succeed.

Launched by New Classrooms Innovation Partners in 2012, Teach to One: Math creates a learning environment that utilizes different models for teachers to teach and students to learn. Teachers utilize live investigation to introduce the students to new material in small to large groups. Instruction becomes more collaborative. Students apply their new learning with their peers through various types of assignments in small groups or in pairs. Teach to One: Math creates customized schedules for the students that allows individuals to progress at their own pace, creating a hybrid of teacher delivery sessions, group collaboration, and individual instruction.

Teach to One: Math delivers a mathematical program that celebrates success with badges. “Still Got It” badge celebrates students remembering their past skills. “Stretch” badge celebrates students learning a more challenging skill. Finally, the “Independence” badge celebrates students’ succeeding in learning beyond the classroom space. The program adjusts students’ schedules based on their strengths and needs, rotating them models that build on their strengths and supports their needs. Teach to One: Math is a program that is still growing and factors into student success.
