The DSI’s RVP of US Sales James Spivey acknowledges that there is capital expenditure and revenue are the two main aspects used in measuring the health of a supply chain. In April 2020, nearly all phases of the supply chain were significantly affected by the pandemic. There were even instances where some distilleries shifted from making spirits to producing hand sanitizers. Read This Article for more information.

Such a shift was evident because there was a need for the market to meet the huge but struggling customer demands. With the help of e-commerce, the adaption made it convenient for distillers to effectively distribute products in partnership with customers and local stores. Given the expected decrease in revenue in different sectors, the tobacco, beverage, and food are expected to see increased revenues.

Most of the revenues are centered in the United States, where there is a high supply. As a result of the pandemic, the usual lead times have risen by over 200%. This has led to a disruptive impact on the manufacturing sector as well as the United states supply chain. James Spivey still believes that different US companies may choose to bring manufacturing back as a way to reduce their risk. Visit This Page for additional information.

He also notes that repatriation will occur globally since many foreign manufacturers are unreliable, especially during the current pandemic. There is no doubt that many firms may opt for supply chain technology such as the Data Systems International to improve the adaptability of their supply chain.
