MICHAEL GOGUEN PARTS WITH $50000 TO SUPPORT STEM EQUIPPING AMONG THE FLATHEAD GIRLS

Flathead Code Girls, founded in 2016 by Marianne Smith, received a generous donation of $50000 from the Goguen’s. The institution offers free coding training to girls.

After the girls finish their project, the end product is that they become eligible for various showcasing of their creation. Through that, the girls get a chance to interact with multiple judges who are making significant strands in the industry.

According to Smith The Donation from Michael and Jamie Goguen aided in providing prizes for the winners, and will go a long way in giving awards to the winners of the upcoming event. Secondly, it will also help them dream bigger in terms of equipping more girls with coding skills.

The volunteer program offers this opportunity to girls above the fourth grade.

The introduction to the basics of computer science are primary lessons, and then the girls must recognize a problem in real life and come up with apps, websites other coding programs to find the niche to fix it. Smith believes that the whole essence of coding is to provide solutions to problems.

Michael Goguen is an acclaimed philanthropist who has significantly contributed to charity-run programs. Last year he was accorded with the Great Whitefish Award for his numerous selflessness in supporting the whitefish, Two Bear Air, among other charitable acts.

Michael Goguen is an investor, founder, and leader. He deals with IT and other related investments, which sheds light to why he felt compelled to support the girl coding program.

His career in engineering began early with companies like DEC, Centillion, and ATM Forum. In 1996 he joined the Sequoia startup. He also serves as an active board member of various energy and technology ventures.

His main aim in donating to the coding training is the futuristic probability that STEM will provide ideal solutions to the community. In helping the girls get equipped with science technology and engineering skills, he is sure that the next generation will have the capability to solve some hefty problems.
