Dr. Oz Advises Those Most Vulnerable to COVID-19

Despite all of the negative news about the coronavirus, many young people don’t believe how serious this disease is. The average age of people infected with the virus is 35. The most vulnerable people are senior citizens and those with chronic illnesses at any age. African Americans are more vulnerable to COVID-19 than the white population. People who are obese or have high blood pressure are among the most vulnerable. What can the most vulnerable people do to protect themselves from the virus? Dr. Oz has outlined a doable list of guidelines for people to follow.

One of the many things that a vulnerable person can do is not let their blood pressure exceed 140/90. Dr. Oz recommends taking walks while keeping social distance. People should try exercising for three minutes and, each day, build up gradually to about half an hour. People should concentrate on losing some weight. The ideal waistline measurements are 37 inches for men and 35 inches for women.

The best way to begin losing weight is cutting back on sugars. Fruits, nuts, hummus, and grains make better snacks than cakes, pies, icecream, and candy. Dr. Oz’s personal favorite treats are plain popcorn, grapes, watermelon, and kale. Dr. Oz suggests using ginger, garlic, and turmeric to season food instead of salt.

Dr. Oz was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was raised in Delaware with his two younger sisters. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and holds a double degree. Dr. Oz has a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. In 1986, Dr. Oz obtained an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

In college, Dr. Oz was awarded the Captain’s Award for his leadership in physical fitness. Dr. Oz was elected class president two times during college. In medical school, Oz was elected student body president.
