With the deadly spread of COVID-19, the world is searching for a wide range of ways to monitors and stop the spread by using medication, vaccines and technology. Sujit Choudhry is known internationally, and he is recognized as an authority in constitutional law. He is also known for his position as a Center of Constitutional Transitions director, a researcher for the Center for Global Constitutionalism and his guidance on Security Sector Reform in Constitutional Transitions (SSR).
Security Sector Reform provides a road map for new democracies on how to improve security agencies as a component of more comprehensive processes of constitutional reformation worldwide. SSR is essential for democratic transitions unfolding around the world. It addresses the transformation of militias, police, military and intelligence agencies.
About Sujit Choudhry
Choudhry is an expert and educator of constitutional law. He was born in 1970 in New Delhi, India. Choudhry worked as an educator, lawyer and author. He has authored several books which include:
- Dilemmas of Solidarity
- Constitution-Making
- Constitutional Design for Divided Societies
- Security Sector Reform in Constitutional Transitions.
Choudhry received a B.S. degree from McGill University, a B.A. degree from the University of Oxford, an LL.B. degree from the University of Toronto and an LL.M degree from Harvard Law School.
Choudhry was the first Indian named dean at a top United States law school. He taught at Berkeley’s School of Law. Some of his awards include:
