The thing about San Francisco is, no matter how much you love it, you can’t really live here, not for the longterm. The problem is, living in SF will certainly bleed a bank account dry, it’s just a matter of time.
So it feels a bit like expiration dating, like my SF romance is always on the verge of ending. It’s a little bit of a love-hate relationship (love-haight?), but guaranteed whenever I’m sure I’ll be throwing in the towel and ending things, I crest some hill or see a menu like the one below and remember all the things I love about this city.
So while I’ve got somewhat disposable income (no kids, no loans, etc.), I’ve been trying to really enjoy myself here before we inevitably have to move away.
This past weekend, my friend Jana, Chloe, and I went to the Treasure Island Flea Market, then did some wandering around the Mission. It was the quintessential SF day- thrift store shopping on Treasure Island and around the Mission, margaritas and fried pickles at Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, and the most INSANE experience with chocolate I’ve ever had at Dandelion Chocolate.
Though sometimes I can’t wait to move away, weekends like this are something to treasure. Maybe I’ll stick around a little while longer after all.
